Basic Sciences

Prof. RamaRao Y S
Professor & Head
Basic Sciences
Developing an enthusiasm towards learning is central to our success. The department seeks to combine excellence in education and research with survive to industry. Learning is continuous process and does not end with acquisition of a degree, especially because steady and rapid advances in computing technologies shorten the life of tools and technologies prevalent today. As Head of Basic Sciences I wish to take the opportunity to assure that I will try my best to maximize students participation in the department and will keep the admin transparent
VISION
Impart quality education to young minds in fundamentals of Basic Sciences to creatively apply in the fields of Engineering.
MISSION
Develop problem solving techniques, logical thinking and analytical abilities.
Motivate and equip the students to acquire scientific skills.

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

Prof.Lakshmi
Associate Professor & HOD
Department of Mathematics
hod.maths@nitms.edu.in
HOD DESK
The department functions from the inception of the institution with the qualified ,experienced and dedicated faculty members. Excellence and commitment are two eyes of the department as it always strives to be the centre for excellence in acquiring knowledge and skill required for Engineers and Technologists. Department of Mathematics provides necessary skills for the budding engineering graduates to enable them in formulation of real life problems and apply mathematical methods to solve them and analyze the results for drawing logical conclusions.since Mathematics form the backbone for knowledge development for scientists and engineers,We give great emphasis on development of basics of Mathematics among the students of engineering. Talents of students in Mathematics are identified and students with potential are encouraged.
DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The department of Mathematics at NIT&MS was established in the year 2007 and has well qualified and dedicated staff members. The department provides a strong foundation of mathematical basics which are building blocks of all subjects of Engineering fields.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

HOD DESK
Thank you for visiting the Department of Chemistry’s website at the NITMS. We offer an educational experience in chemistry that is rich in challenges and opportunities for undergraduate engineering students. Chemistry is truly the central science and underpins much of the efforts of scientists and engineers to improve life for human kind.Department of chemistry is teaching Engineering chemistry (theory & practical) for I & II semester Engineering students.Department produces very high percentage of results every year and maintains the figure of almost 90% and above. There are three staff members in the Department of Chemistry; One of them is PhD degree holder and another faculty member is persuing PhD. Staff members in the department are able to guide the students well. Staff members are encouraged in their research activities and permitted to participate in various conferences.
DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Department of Chemistry at NIT-MS was established with other Engineering department in 2007. The department has a very good infrastructure, with a working area of 180 sq feet, capable of conducting all the experiments prescribed by VTU. The Department supports and strives towards building an integrated academic curriculum and research activities encompassing the disciplines of Science, Engineering & Technology.
The Department strives to ensure that the students are trained and exposed to the cutting edge science and technology development. Further we recognize that it is a stimulating environment coupled with an appreciation for focusing on acquisition and utilization of knowledge that inspires and triggers the blossoming new ideas. To this effect, the Department makes concerted efforts to create and nurture an academic environment by including several activities besides the course work.

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

Prof.Ramarao Y S
Professor & HOD
Department of Physics
hod.phy@nitms.edu.in
HOD DESK
Physics Department plays a key role in an engineering field. It is the essential platform for catering the basic needs for all branches of engineering students, so that they proceed to rest of their years of study with up to date knowledge and training of basic engineering skills. Physics laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develops complete knowledge of the subject. The teaching module in the laboratory comprises lectures, tutorials, discussion and practicals. The methodology adopted in the classroom teaching is based on application of innovative strategies, comprehensive lectures, regular assignments and interaction between teachers and students on regular basis.
DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The Physics Department was established in the year 2007 with the mission of imparting quality education in the field of physics at undergraduate course offered by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum for first year engineering students The departmental laboratory possesses excellent facilities and sophisticated equipments for the students during their course of study. The objective of our department is to provide quality education and to encourage the engineering students to strengthen their knowledge in the field of Physics. Dedicated, qualified and experienced staff members are the strength of our department.
